After months of planning, by Richard, we left Cary, NC at 11am ET on September 11, took the 15 hour best flight of our lives with Fiji Air from Vancouver, CA to Nadi town, Fiji. As Fiji is 18 hours ahead of eastern time, we arrived at 5am on Wednesday. A short time later we were in the taxi heading to our first destination, a place to rest that was near our good friend, Joji and family.

The only thing we knew we want to do in Fiji was to see our dear friends, and co-workers at the Baha’i World center, Joji, Suzy & their soon to be 4 year old son, Adrianople.

We spent a few days on the beautiful Momi Bay & had a wonderful early 50th anniversary dinner at the seaside.

Took a catamaran ferry to the south see island where Richard snorkelled and I took a small submarine to view the amazing sea life.

Visited a village and their primary school.

Stayed at the most hospitable Teitei Homestay Fiji- a permaculture farm- for three unforgettable days. The family ( thoughtful Akka & his articulate gentle boy, Kiki) & staff (Eminoni, the permaculture farm manager & guide, as well as our dear coworker from the Baha’i World center & Ashmita, the sweet & capable housekeeper & cook) were beyond wonderful.
This unique, educational, spiritual & cultural experience will remain with us, always. This was the icing on the cake.

Kind Akka took us out for several home visits.

Visited the sleeping giant’s botanical garden in Nadi town.

And for the ICING ON TOP we were honoured to attend the Baha’i 19 day Feast and thanks to technology connect – via zoom- with the friends attending the Feast in our home town.
