Chapter 15 -Luxembourg and Germany

Once we learned that our good friends Nayyirih and Mahvash are in Luxembourg, on the way to the Baha’i House of Worship near Frankfort, Germany, we decided to rent a car and do a week long road trip.

We spent a wonderful evening with our beloved friend (sister!) Nayyirih. She had prepared a delicious Persian meal ending with filtered coffee (like the ones we got in Israel.) We reminisced, with joy and gratitude, about our years of service at the Baha’i World Center, looking at photos of our many friends and sharing many sweet stories. The next day we visited my dear childhood/youth friend, Mahvash, and her dear husband Sohail. We talked about our wonderful city, Shiraz, and the many friends and family that were instrumental for our spiritual and social growth. We were so blessed to be raised in a community that focused on our spiritual, social and material education.  I was on cloud 9 as we left these dear friends, which I hope to see again and soon.

Our next destination, the House of Worship, was a couple of hours drive from Luxembourg. The HOW is located at the foot of the Taunus mountains in the village of Langenhain (part of the town of Hofheim) approximately 25 km west of Frankfurt /Main. We stopped at the visitors center and were warmly received by the receptionist and served Persian tea and sweets. Again, we were fortunate to be there for the Sunday’s uplifting devotional. The structure of the HOW is very elegant and lovely. Many acres of land surround the building giving it much serenity and peace.

As we left the building we met a local couple out for their evening walk who offered to take our pictures. They were very friendly  and interested in getting to know us. We had a lovely german dinner (schnitzel with delicious sauces and potatoes) followed with hot raspberries and ice cream in a very popular restaurant (Waldgeist) that we happened to see along the way, not far from the HOW.

We have now seen four of the continental Baha’i House of Worship (New Delhi, India; Chicago, Illinois; Sydney, Australia and Frankfort, Germany) and look forward to visiting the rest.
